Lol it wasn't so migraine inducing in reality - an exercise with the vibrance, luminance and saturation sliders.

I heard on the radio yesterday that recent strong winds had our wind farm generating up to 90% of our power. Good stuff.

I don't think the furniture is actually used, just a set for a photo.

What if the colours were all together, the chairs and the tables?

Spoiler
It so is. That old and cozy, tucked away farm windmill with the new modern generators marching boldy over the horizon is such a nostalgia trip. What do they call that - counterpoint or something?

Love it. A good match with the refinery one too. Is it a b&w conversion from digital colour?

Oh I see and yes, I'd kinda like to see too. If I get around to requesting permission for the rearrangement, I'll post again and be sure to credit you in-photo.

oops .. I'm not sure now ... I may have misunderstood/misremembered ... I did hear 90% something or other, but ...

And trying to find it online hasn't helped resolve it

last September there was a major wind event when a large proportion of South Australia's power was able to be supplied from wind, and even a very brief stage overnight when the state was on 100% wind power and was a net exporter

http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2012/s3584988.htm

Quote:
TIMOTHY MCDONALD: Roughly a quarter of South Australia's power came from wind farms last year.

Earlier this week when winds topped 90 kilometres an hour that figure was much higher.

Russell Marsh is the policy director for the Clean Energy Council.

TIMOTHY MCDONALD: What we've seen is that over the last couple of days the amount of energy generated from wind power in South Australia has gone from between 55 and 85 per cent since Monday as a result of the very strong winds we're having at the moment.

TIMOTHY MCDONALD: And for a few brief moments in the early hours of Wednesday morning wind was generating so much power that some of it was being exported to Victoria.

Russell Marsh says emissions from South Australia's power sector have fallen every year since 2005 and have dropped 27 per cent over the last five years.

They should invite you to give speeches there more often!

Well blow me down but that really is impressive. Makes full sustainability in that region look like a real and achievable goal to be aimed for. Instead of pissing into the wind as it is in the UK for example. Go SA!

Hmmm..

Quote:
In 2003 the only large wind turbine in South Australia was a 0.15 MW unit at Coober Pedy and by early 2004 there was 34 MW of installed wind power capacity.[3]
As of December 2010, South Australia had thirteen operational wind farms, with an installed capacity of 1,018 MW. South Australia had half of the nation's installed wind capacity, despite only making up 8% of Australia's population. A further 184 MW of projects were under construction. It is estimated that wind power provided 14% of South Australia's energy demand in 2008/09.[4][5][6]
As of October 2011, South Australia had an installed capacity of 1,205 MW, accounting for 21 per cent of electricity production
The turbines only have an installed capacity of 21%. Oversupply doesn;t mean that the turbines are supplying all of South Australia because you cannot shut down the coal and gas fired power stations just because of peak wind power.

My best guess about this event is that spikes in wind power supply had to be exported to the larger Victorian grid.

It's still a very impressive amount of wind power though. I'm very surprised.

Yo! A truly iconic South Australian shot - appreciate the use of the ubiquitous barbed wire fence. Google earthed that and see it's deep into the Flinders. Incidentally, daughter thought the NZ beach rocks in post #8 were p amazing - as did I.

So then, suppose it could be rather a lot of random beaches but do you recognise this?

Glenelg.

Hang on, I've spelled that backwards.

glenelG.

Volleyball nets and jetty are familiar. It's where I first stayed in 1989, where Charlou works and where we eat out one evening a week.

I said I'd also post one to show she isn't always quite so monstrous.
