Except for the hornet and some minor species differences - oh, and the adder - it might be a piece about Cape Breton.
Cape Breton - like Estonia but animals less likely to kill you on purpose.

Just as the piece on Estonia left out the hedgehogs, so a similar piece about Cape Breton would probably leave out the porcupines.

They are very rare in CB. That's because until recently, it cost $1.50 to cross the Causeway, and porcupines never carry any cash.

Ah. I didn't realize they were rare in CB. I assumed that they were as plentiful there as they are here on the mainland.

About 40,000 now living in the CBD owing to the proliferation of apartment developments in the past 2 decades.
Re New Zealand: snooze 2 hours on flight, arrive Auckland Airport on time, clear customs, sit on a chair next to American millennial snowboarder who is loudly telling his buddy they had just been given $100 by a fan of their daily video blog, snooze 1 hour, eat breakfast (fruit yoghurt cup, quiche, skinny cappuccino), 20-minute ride in clapped out mini bus which has somehow been granted a taxi licence, arrive at dirty, run down glass factory, spend several hours with 23-year old graduate engineer who is running multi-hundred thousand dollar project, walk through dirty, shitty factory twice to assess risks associated with planned natural gas and acetylene upgrades, hit proverbial wall of fatigue, spend 20 minutes discussing Rugby League with taxi driver of Pacific islander descent, discover the bar eatery in the international terminal at Auckland airport no longer has an eatery, drink beer, go to another cafe, buy muffin and bottled water, consume same but don't enjoy it owing to pathological dislike of bottled water, catch flight home featuring in-flight meal beef "casserole", terrible 1-hour clip show National Geographic bird documentary and 4 depressing episodes of Utopia, taxi home, watch Storm beat Rabbitohs and Demons beat Cats, fall asleep on couch, go to bed, sleep 8 hours, post on internet while listening to Coodabeen Champions.
