Some of my my spreadsheets contain a lot of @if functions, sometimes nested five deep. Clunky, I know, but they do exactly what I want them to do. Also, all my macros are written in Lotus script. VB did not appear on the scene until Lotus went windows GUI and I was too lazy to learn it. I was extremely pleased when I rarely had to deal with command line operations from there on, though. the pre-Windows program that prettied up the sheets was called Allways. It was a PITA, but better than nothing.

I know next to nothing about Exel. A few years ago I had to convert some *.123 files to microsoft's format so my accountant could use them. It took fucking hours. In retrospect that was a waste of time. I would have been better off just printing them out on paper. The accountant stuffed things up so comprehensively that he did not dare bill me for the difference between the initial downpayment and his actual fee when the job was finally done.

What are your views on Power Query? I think it's got some useful functionality, but it does slow down the spreadsheet somewhat.

ETA oh and I'm ambivalent about DAX

This pair of quotes caused me to laugh weirdly enough to scare the cat off my lap.

What are your views on Power Query?
I'm all for gay pride and all but the phrase "power queer" makes me uncomfortable.

None of you are old enough to get it. As far as spreadsheets are concerned I am still stuck in 1989, MS DOS v.3.3, Lotus 1-2-3 v.2.2 and all. Luckily VisiCalc was history by then, or I'd be really lost now.
