Right around zero here, snowraining and chilly. I called off my run about 20 km in, and finished it on a treadmill. [/loser]

yeah. The forecast here was to go up to 15 C, but when I went for a (very slow) walk with Mrs D (and her cane), it felt more like 21 or 22 to me. Very nice.

This morning it was down to 4 C. Thunderstorm wandered past our house, and took out our power while I was showering. Power was out in our neighbourhood (including at Nixie's school) for nearly two hours.

Yesterday was enough to boost hope for at least a week though.

Once in a while we get a June heatwave for a week with temps around 30. But mostly June is around 20 or under. I'll take it.

Lots. Going to another one in a few weeks.

I've never actually tried beef ribs and the ones they cooked were amazing. I knew I'd been overcooking my pork ribs, but I didn't know why. I was trying to cook them on the same schedule as Brisket or pulled pork, but they should be done at a higher temp over a shorter period.

I'm generally happy with my BBQ, but I'm miles away from competition level. This was a fun class that will up my game.

Plus I got a cool certificate I can frame and hang on my patio.

supposed to be even warmer by the end of the week.

It was 8 degrees today. By Friday, it should be 16 degrees.

However, the wind. Has made it so today hasn't actually been so warm. Same with on Saturday, as well. Not hula-hooping, and tossing the big squishy ball around, at the park, type of weather.

what is considered warm for you?

I know for myself, if it is say, 1-5 degrees (this is speaking without wind), then we are talking sweater weather, no jackets. If it's 8 plus degrees, then possible t-shirt, bring along a cardigan, type weather.

So ya - where does it get for you, where it's actually warm and considered nice weather?

It's weird. Going into winter, every 20 degree drop feels like it will be impossible, then it's fine quickly. In the spring, when the temperature gets up to -20C, everyone has their jackets open, sunglasses on and outdoor festival stuff is going.

Once it's been above 0 though, my tolerance seems to be reset. It's fricking cold tonight, and the last few. Partly because I'm extra-battered (long run and increased resistance training) but it also could be that I'm just done with winter.

Once the temperature is firmly above zero, it's a lot better. The ice remaining on the lakes can create weird cold spots when the wind swings around and comes in from the lake.

I love winter, but I don't like the way it hangs on, I guess. Ready for spring, melt and mud.

No. When it's been below -30C for weeks, and the temperature warms up that much, everyone notices. It's like a party. People pull their hoods down, open their coats.

It's counter-intuitive, but I meant what I said (thanks, Brother Daniel)

It's cold here in the winter. Warming up feels great, even if it's still cold.

Which is why I'm weirded out by how much of a fucking BABY I am this week. Things went above zero for a few days, and now -14C is making me feel chilled unreasonably.

Still did my 10k outside yesterday, but shit...it's cold.

maybe even for that week, your body started getting accustomed to the warmer degrees.

I actually found that lately, the plus 8 degree weather we are getting here, has been colder than usual - but that's due to this never ending wind that we seem to have... and just a dampness in the air.

Previously, when it was 1-5 degrees and crisp, it was better.

So maybe it's the same - maybe it's more of a damper cold for you?

Probably that, too. The region is semi-arid, and while we do have a lot of snow on the ground, there isn't usually much precipitation or moisture in the air. It's pretty wet while everything melts.

Todays run was much better. Just a light jacket and a slight chill while warming up and cooling down.

+1C or so, tonight.

Although, maybe more than a light jacket would be better, if you are chilled.

This was perfect! If running when it's cool, the best is usually to be a bit chilly when you start out, which places you at a good, cool temperature for the 'workout' portion, then when you slow down to cool down, you are again under-dressed. Since i'm home by that point, it's perfect.

Another strategy is to wear an extra layer, ditch it a kilometer along (when I'm all warmed up), then come back the same way, picking the layer back up to wear during the cooldown.

Of course, when it's this warm it's more of a comfort thing than a safety concern. It's nice to be into spring. I love winter, but it makes things a bit more plan-heavy.

Probably you wouldn't have to ditch the extra layer half way through. If it were a thin cotton shirt, below the light jacket, it would just soak up all the sweat. I dunno seems like it would be better to be a bit extra warm, then have a chill happen.

I've put a lot of time into learning gear for running, from -45C to +30 or so. Mostly what you want is NO ABRASION. Of course, in winter you have to dress to not die, but the big thing for me with cotton is that it gets wet and starts to wear my skin off.

Nipple-sanding is truly magical. On a guy with boobies like mine, there is an undulating shimmy with every step. For HOURS everything feels fine, then you notice that you have slowly sanded several layers of skin off your nipples.

From zero to firepaincrying instantly, as a bead of sweat hits them just right.

I have taped my nipples down with Jesus-imprinted band-aids, to save them from the awful pain of the wrong clothing.
