Could you be one of the lucky 192?

Spain's Altimara caverns have been off limits to visitors for the last 12 years. In an effort to precisely measure the impact on the neolithic paintings of visitors traipsing through and radiating heat, expelling wet CO2-laden air from their lungs, etc., a limited experiment is going to take place.

Each week, a random day will be selected, and visitors to the museum on that day can enter a lottery to win a tour of Spain's Sistine Chapel of neolithic art. Five will be chosen to don special protective clothing, masks, etc. and will enter the caverns to view the 20k to 14k year old neolithic paintings and be measured 6 ways from Sunday.

For Science!

I have mixed feelings about tourism of sites like this. On the one hand, they're irreplaceable and there's so much yet to learn from rigorous study.

On the other hand, I wanna SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I hear ya, when I'm in a park and see graffiti/carvings in the rock I think a special select group of visitors should be issued guns

if you seal them up completely so no one can ever see the originals again, then who would even know if they were still there or had been destroyed, it would be like schrodingers cave

i stared at them for ages and decided the top two are exaggerated wild bulls (the artist has used a bump in the rock to give the left one a big shoulder) and the one in the bottom left is fucking trippy, seems to be puking another life form into existence

Then the cat's magic sailing ship with Admiral Toronto at the helm the Catavenger sailed back through the cloudy mists of time and space. It was leading a small convoy. This consisted of a submarine, a pinnace and flying close by was their small zeppelin.
Thousands of years in the past they pulled up to the shore off the coast of the Iberian peninsula. They anchored the brig and other craft and boarded the Pinnace Ms. Kitty.
Leftenent Montreal sailed the small ship and landed it by a rocky out cropping. The cats and others went ashore where they saw the strange bovines. Commander Calgary had been to this time and place before and was acquainted with the aurochs. He extended greetings and introduced the parties to each other.
Then as a gesture of good will he radioed (to use a crude and not quite correct term as this equipment was much more advanced) to the zeppelin. It flew over and dropped several bails of alfalfa to the aurochs as a gesture of goodwill. Then with those creatures permission the ship's human servant Shel set up his easel and painted the beast's portrait with his airbrush. Using advanced gear not available to the humans of the 21st century they copied his portrait and flash copied it instantly to the wall inside a nearby cavern. It would not be found by archaeologists for hundreds of years. The crew then enjoyed a lunch of bread, catnip wine and cheese while they conversed with the aurochs. Then they boarded the various craft; reformed the convoy and once again sailed back to their secret lair on Shelcat Cay at a time and place known to very few.

The cave is about 270 metres in length, so this would take some time. A full scale reproduction known as the neocave of the entrance and first few sections opened at the nearby Altamira Museum in 2001.

Nothin' like the real thing though otherwise we get back to the inflatable doll - well never mind I've been offensive enough I guess.

The Catavenger was left to himself to reflect on the many possible reasons why some might consider livewriting banworthy.

Many have tried to define livewriting and few have succeeded, said the giblin, adding under his breath the norms here are so stupid with their normal writing, as he added another log to the fire on this cold winter's night. Weather so gelid these days was as rare as a paragraph break in a livewriter's post, thought the giblin as he shuddered. One's extremities were so often benumbed these days it became toilsome to keep looking up synonyms to make lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
