Well, I'm already on record as to "what's not to like" with this:
"Developed a social dependence on booze as the result of [DRINKING]".

Although, I did neglect to address the associated monetary, time, temperment, and physical costs, which were significant, in that statement.

I shall assume that for persons such as yourself that drinking problems are all fun and games; that the truly real men and boys thoroughout the world are able to drink with impunity yet lack any perception of others' lack of impunity.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/impunity
im-pu-ni-ty: 2. immunity from detrimental effects, as of an action.
i'd say most drinkers have a social dependence on booze to one degree or another. i guess i just don't see why that in itself is a problem

Gib's pointless, thread derail - Lol - seeded by my "diet coke and attempt at wittiness about my drinking situation/decision" post, which you/gib questioned, and afterwhich was answered to the effect "I don't drink because I reached a point where I'd had enough / had too much".

So, by "i guess i", you are not confident why you doggedly view my drinking problem as single faceted, as further evidenced by your wording choice of "that in itself", i.e. social dependence alone.

Oh well. You didn't comprehend my mention of four other costs: monetary, time, temperment, and physical.

Rose's lime cordial with water and ice and just a hint of Smuggler's Cove dark rum... okay, a couple ounces.

I wish I had some Maraschino cherries, though. A couple of those dripping with syrup would be the absolute correct accent.

I own this book, or rather, the earlier version:

http://www.amazon.com/Gentlemans-Com.../dp/B000LUUGDK

and The Gentleman's Cooking Companion as well, both of them the 1939 editions, covers faded and a bit worn, so not terribly valuable. Both wonderful books, works of art, really.

But the drinks book is awesome. I'd like to try every one of his suggestions.

A stale or storage egg in a decent mixed drink is like a stale or storage joke in critical and intelligent company. Eschew them rabidly. If really fresh eggs can't be had, mix other type drinks, for the result will reflect no merit round the hearth, no matter how hospitable it may be

It's all like that, and interspersed with anecdotes, some amusing, some horrifying.

The Pollo Pino recipe I posted at TR was from his book. It's amazing.

i know with those things, it says avoid alcohol. only because that stuff really works your lliver, and alcohol on top of that, will make it work slightly more.

i doubt a beer or two will make much of a difference. (my opinion).

binging on hard alcohol - another story.

^ this is why aspirin based otc painkillers are better. They will not eat your liver if you pour alcohol on top of them.

No. Much better now. I had a 3 hour long conversation with a woman who is a very good prospect for dating, and set up a date for tomorrow. My day has ended pretty well.
