Too funny. Don't think I've ever seen such a coordinated campaign of pure hatred and distortion from the media as was leveled at Trump during this election. Culminating in the without comedy equal charge of lack of Presidential transparency for going out for dinner with the family. For me that was the quintessential defining moment of this whole media witch hunt.

Now they expect him to just serve up his plans on a silver platter for them to spew venom and lies over for the next couple of months prior to him taking office while whipping up the rent-a-sedition mobs to mobilise in the streets.

Pretty sure what Trump is doing is keeping his powder dry and not telegraphing his moves to his mortal enemies. For example the Paris Accord where he says he has an open mind and will look closely at it. All he's doing there is handing them off with a sop and giving them nothing to whine about but anyone with a pulse would look at what he's doing and not what he's saying. He just appointed Myron Ebell to head the EPA transition and that should tell you all you need to know about what he thinks of the Paris accord.

Note also the dopey brainwashed hacks

Quote:
SULZBERGER: Well, since we’re living on an island, sir, I want to thank you for having an open mind. We saw what these storms are now doing, right? We’ve seen it personally. Straight up.

FRIEDMAN: But you have an open mind on this?

TRUMP: I do have an open mind. And we’ve had storms always, Arthur.

SULZBERGER: Not like this.
Trump is 100% correct. There is no data whatsoever in support of the contention that storms are getting worse or the weather more violent generally. Plenty of models saying it ought to be - but no empirical data.

Spoiler

In fact storm severity in the US has been somewhat decreasing if anything.

None of that matters to the confirmation biased hacks though and what they do in order to deceive the public is to quote the $ value damage which obviously increases with the amount of high value stuff people build to be damaged in the path of storms.

Following the MSM something like 90% negative all out assault on Trump he still won easily and you would think that would give them pause for thought about how the public view their 'reporting'. But no, rather than admit that they got things terribly wrong and say why and what they intend to do about it they will continue to double down and insult everyone. Great to watch though.

Troo dat. And not really sure why. He's a bit of an anachronistic figure to be sure in my view but some things he does I like so not sure why he gets the universal bad press he does

Eta: although I'll reserve judgement on the extremity of it until I see the UK press attack him for going out to dinner.

This reminds me of that magazine survey which respondents overwhelmingly identified as non-feminists but were in favour of gender equality. The thing when the same way after, plenty of people insisting that everyone who answered the survey didn't understand, or had internalized misogyny. It seems impossible to them that anyone else could have an honestly different view.

it is a flash in the pan, even if she managed through recounts to knock the balance enough that Trump did not get 270 (which is pretty minimal at best), it would just go to congress, and wait for it....

Congress would elect Trump.

Shades of Bush and Gore.

Seriously at this point, our main focus should be on what do we do now. How do we fight for the issues that matter? How do we reach the large percentage of voters who voted for Trump because they feel left out, their 25 dollar an hour factory jobs lost, their hopes crushed. We need to find a message that resonates with them while helping them see bringing back the factories does not mean they will get paid a living wage again. That bringing back the coal mines does not mean they will have jobs forever.

We need to find a way to bring them into the jobs of the future, and focus on renewable energy sources. But it is not by calling them names, or assuming everyone who voted for Trump is a racist. We need to listen, really LISTEN to their story so we can reach them and bring them into the fold.

Right now they are listening to the racists because Trump tells him he will bring back jobs to America, the jobs they used to have. He neglects to mention, that instead of solid union wages and benefits, people will be paid 8 to 10 bucks an hour at these new factory jobs and have far less benefits, especially for medical.

All they hear is Trump will bring back our old jobs.

They see urban areas as a hotbed of nothing but crime. They do not see the cultural and artistic side. They do not see the wonderful diversity. All they see is what shows up on the 6 or 11 PM news which is sensationalized and designed to make them fear and be angry because that boosts ratings and makes the station more money.

There is a short video going around on FB that shows an example of fact checking vs non fact checking. Someone wrote a story on a fake news site that Sweden was not allowing Christmas lights somewhere because of Muslims. A fact check shows that it was actually because of some regulation that has nothing to do with Muslims. But most people instead accepted the story, got angry, and shared it. The story went viral with tons of comments.

Those are the kind of stories that so many Trump voters saw and responded to on social media. These are the kind of stories that stick around and people really believe them. The truth is an elusive thing, especially without the fairness doctrine, and the lure of higher ratings or in the case of social media more comments and shares.

Umm, no. Stein will not win any electoral votes due to this recount process. Neither will Johnson. There is the remotest of possibilities that Clinton will pick up some, so if trump was to lose enough to fall below 270 (it's not gonna happen, but if...) then Clinton would be over 270. It's not going to congress based on this recount stuff.

A much more realistic possibility (I'll put it at .005% vs the recount changing anything at .000000001%) is that enough electors who are pledged to Trump will go against their pledge and vote for someone else (say Romney). If that happens, then yes, it's possible that nobody gets 270 and it goes to The House. And I think they are at least as likely to pick Romney over Trump as the electoral college is to renege on their votes.

There is zero possibility of Stein taking votes away from Trump. Zero. The recall has absolutely no chance of causing the election to go to congress.

I know I was just saying even IF it were possible it would still be moot because Ryan would give it to Trump over Clinton. We need to move to learning where we went wrong, and how to make changes in 2 years and 4 years, and how to fight on the issues to keep our country from going too far toward the wet dream of Mike Puritan Pence.

There is a non-zero chance that the recall will tip it to Clinton. I'm guessing, that's what the majority of donors are hoping for. Still wasted money, but no worse than a lottery ticket, I suppose.
