Five Armies of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is coming to theaters, but confusion reigns over what constitutes the Five Armies of the Battle in both the book and film.

What say thee?

The wargs, allied with the goblins, would be the 5th.

If one counts the Eagles, don't you have to include the bats?

And the "three armies" Gandalf united were the 2 Dwarf armies and Men, who were just about to war over the Lonely Mountain treasure.

Was it an army of 'men' with Rohan and Gondor, or separate armies?

Wut?

OK, so my brother's the Tolkien expert, and he's a teacher. He went to see the movie with a bunch of his high-school kids. They're saying the 5 Armies are the Dwarves, the Elves, the Men, the Orcs (Goblins), and the animals. But that the animals are real conflicted.
