Oceans 11 mafia sign up thread.

Oceans 11 mafia sign up

Our Target is 11 players but I have room for more. If we don't reach the target I can alter the game to a lower number.

I would classify this game as a Role Madness Mini. Roles/Powers have been chosen from the list on mafiascum but may or may not have been modified as I see fit. Players will be given a clear definition of their role as it works in this game.

Roles will be assigned by random.com or private cash bribes

The game will have 4 day "days" and 3 day "nights", let me know if you want to move faster or slower. I try to spread my deadlines out across the clock giving players in different timezones a fair shot. (what is the timezone spread like in here anyway?) I am in the eastern US but have strange hours.

I will post more generals rules when the game starts. I am assuming players already know how to play mafia, if anyone does not or if my ruleset is somehow different than yours please speak up.

I like how your group uses new threads for each day as well as a peanut gallery, I will follow your lead.

Thanks in advance for letting me run something so soon.

Those are brutally long days for us. Timezone spread is big, I think we're mostly north America but with a fair number of Aussies and UKers. We often go 24/12 so that everyone has at least alternate days that don't end at 3am local.

I'll give it a whirl.

Wow that's fast, thats a dream for night but feels a little too fast for day. For this game I would suggest doing a 48/24 for the first turn then on day 2 if there is a consensus to speed up to 24/12 I will.

I also allow a vote of nolynch if players feel the need to end a day early

48/24 still has nightfall at the same time every day. The reason we kinda settled on 24/12 is so nightfall changes by 12 hours each time.

How does nolynch end the day early? we typically allow people to ##vote Final## and it will end the day early if there's > 50% final votes on a single player (see the last day in the game I just ran)

Players choose not to lynch and move immediately to night once there is a majority vote of NoLynch. This is often performed on day one when town does not have enough information to lynch and does not want to risk a random choice. Keep in mind these game usually had 4-7 day long "days" and usually included unusual elements that could make vanilla mafia strategy obsolete.

I'll study your game with a little more detail to see what else I may be missing here

I just spotted a big difference, it appears that you lynch a player at the end of the day regardless of majority.

In my games you must reach a majority in order to lynch and the day ends the moment that lynch is achieved. I now see the disconnect.

what do you do with a tie?

I may have to rethink this game

We elect a mayor who gets an extra half vote. If the mayor's vote is on one of the tied players, then that player is lynched. If not, coin flip.

Yes, we typically do timed games with a no majority required. Just the most votes at the end of the day. See Rhys's poll about running an untimed game. We do them occasionally, but they are not the norm on this site.

I like the idea of requiring a majority and a time limit. At least day 1 won't drag on for a week or two that way.

I picked up on the mayor from H8 and thought it was a power designed for that game.

I'm loving the idea of moving quickly, I was always complaining about the game dragging on especially at night but as you will see the play is a little different with these rules so you may want longer days.

I'm going to post a full rule set in this thread an a few hours, everyone can look it over and decide if they want to play or have me rebuild.

I could accommodate that if we are able to fill 11 slots

The first group I played with where I learned the game all players had socks assigned by the mod, this kept players from knowing each others common strategy from the start. It became a game to try and figure out who was who but could get distracting.

The second group I played with hated this concept.

While I have commented in this thread I have not said I am in yet.

Firstly, I need to know more about the game.
Second I am very busy for the next two days.
Thirdly, I thought we had rhys' sign up thread?

re game times, 24/12 has worked best for us over years of games. As PH said, we are a more globally scattered board than many, so time zones affect play times and can handicap players.

I am pretty sure Calvinists are only supposed to mount or be mounted under the right conjunction of the sun and the moon and the auspices of the MR gods.

As for handicaps, I think old age is as good a handicap as adding extra weight.
Of course, age often does add extra weight even if we prefer to think of it as gravitas.
