I'm not sure what that means MSG - does it mean that your current age ends in a 9?

Magicziggy - What can anyone say about the Victorians? - They were just crackers and they didn't deserve birthdays anyway -jk But I reckon they were responsible for passing on a lot of bad sperm because all of the good sperm was killed off in WW1. That's probably why they produced so many freaks. They produced Hitler didn't they and he was king of the freaks ...

Seriously? What the fuck, people?! I think Winter doldrums have struck the Northern Hemispherians. Dunno what the fuck ails the Southies.

Birthdays are swell. I celebrate mine by giving out candy at the office (true) in addition to offers of free sex at the gym (wish) ... to celebrate the fact I made it another year without dying.

For my 50th my g/f held a nice party at her house. A married couple, friends of mine, showed up a bit late - he quite drunk. Soon after he leered at then grabbed both my g/f's boobs and mumbled something. Poor thing, he. He was manager of Hewlett Packard's local Line Printer group/team, and one of his subordinates had deliberately electrocuted himself on some high powered company equipment that day. Really just an opportunistic excuse for my friend to get blind drunk on my birthday. Cheers to all!

Lol, yup. Had. No. I wrote "both my g/f's boobs", not "both my g/fs' boobs".

Hey, but thanks for thinking of my libidinous needs, gib.

Gib's just messing with you Mondo, I understand why 'both'. Arriving drunk at a party it's all too easy to lose your footing and grab for the nearest steadying object and it's a high probability that the object will be one of your hostesses boobs - we've all done it. But both? Now that's in a different category.

Yay! I get to be annoying!

Boobs -notice the 's'- already implies the set without needing "both" to do so. So it IS a redundancy.

There's no problem using redundancies for emphasis, but as we can see, it can cause confusion.

Both of my friend's boobs are grab-worthy.

All of you are correct. Both was not needed.
I'm thinking "both of" would have been correct, so no cred for me on that score.
But. I have my Michigan parents to thank for a lot of my plain poor phrasing - in particular, ending too many sentences with a preposition, mostly "to" - and they was both educated in Michigan colleges.

To my credit I'm very rarely guilty of adding "at" to the end of perfectly worded inquiries such as "Where is Bill?" sheesh.

"both" and "both of" are essentially equivalent. so "both of" would have been equally redundant

Ya. The guy committed suicide by high-voltage electrocution at a Hewlett Packard plant. My friend showing up bleery eyed drunk was age old proof that any excuse to drink is a good enough reason to do so.

Need to add that my girlfriend showed her upper crust poise BOTH in not screaming out (when my friend grabbed her girls) and in not telling me of the incident until the next day. Surprisingly she related the incident to me BOTH calmly and with concern. Believe I responded with "Thanks, I'm happy you're weren't very upset, but Ted was an a-hole drunk and doesn't deserve your concern. *smooch"
