Already saw this. But thank you.

Actually, the problem is I find the "parsley lookalikes" to be so distinctive that I can't imagine people making the mistake. I've poured over tens of pictures (think 50-60 highest res I can find) each on dangerous species that mimic parsley and edible variations of parsley. So my 'give people more credit than they deserve' part of me thinks I just haven't seen pictures that show the full capacity of these plants to be a lookalike.

I'm QUITE sure I know what I have here, but some things you just don't do. You don't eat wild plants in large quantities without trying out safe doses first, even if you "know" what you have.

I'm an artist and I pay very close attention to the smallest details of things, naturally. A lot of people tend to gloss over details. Everything from the specific characteristics of frills to the characteristics of branch nodes. Hollow vs woody stems. The glossiness of leaves.

It has been a while, but I hunt mushrooms, too. On purpose. So I'm quite careful about these things. You can trust me. More people should. Hell, I should trust me more. And I do, now.

My friend with the yarrow/QAL/caraway problem is also an artist, a very meticulous one.

I just had to make sure, eric.

Already tasted a leaflet. Already looked at the root. Leaves are unquestionably exactly what parsley leaves look like. Flowers are the right type, shape, color, etc.

It's so parsley it hurts. But, you know, caution rules until certainty.

Australia? Yeah, I thought I remembered someone saying that. I don't know anything about Australian fungi. I focus on being able to identify edible mushrooms in the areas I visit (and knowing when I can't be sure).

I did take a short look through the internet. It seems as though there hasn't been a great deal of work on identifying mushrooms there. And I didn't find any sources that I would feel comfortable with, so I would pass on eating them if i were you.

That's a tree stump they're growing in, if that makes any difference .. and the largest one was about ten cm diameter.

No interest in eating them .. I like eating mushrooms, but these just look so nice where they are.

look, none of the poisonous ones in that region grow out of tree stumps, simply get MZ to eat them and we can all follow his progress

I think we may have a sad story among the lake population.

For years there's been a pair of Canada Geese that nest on the next lake down the chain and occasionally settle on ours to feed. This year there is one goose, and he or she spends a lot more time on our lake than the usual. For the first couple weeks this goose spent a lot of time calling. But now s/he just floats around, eats, occasionally wanders up onto the lawn. I think there's a missing mate. Hope s/he finds another.
